Cotton Candy Spider Webs

About a month or two ago I happened to stumble upon this little beauty in one of my many trips to (you guessed it!) Goodwill:

A cotton candy machine! <3

To know me is to know that I am little obsessed with cotton candy in parties. That and rockcandy are two things you can always find me sneaking into one of my party designs! I knew instantly what I wanted our first project to be.

I first stumbled upon this idea on Pinterest and knew that I had to do it. How can you turn down an idea of making your own spider webs at a Halloween party?!

The kids had a blast taking turns making their own.

Spider rings completed the effect.

Even Spidey himself joined the festivities ;)

Have a wonderful Tuesday!

No-Bake Halloween Treats

Halloween is in T-minus 2 days, and if you haven't gotten your treats ready, you are at the right place! The place of a procrastinators, of course ;)

Here are some of the cute NO-BAKE desserts I "whipped" up for a "build-your-own-cauldron" playdate we hosted today.

The first set of treats were inspired by a table setting I saw in the blogosphere that had snakes nest made from plastic snakes and moss.

My version is a lot sweeter :) For this you need pretzel sticks (broken in half) and chocolate/peanut butter chips to build the nest. Gummy worms make up the snakes and yogurt covered raisins were the eggs.

Melt the chips in the microwave in intervals of 30 seconds. For half a bag, it took me about 1.5 minutes.  Slowly mix in the pretzels.

Drop heaps of the mixture onto wax paper and shape into nests.

Add your gummy worms and raisin "eggs". I did this while the pretzels were still a little wet so that they would stick to it when it was dry.

The next set of treats took about 30seconds to whip up.

The ingredients are super simple:

I rolled out the marshmallows with a wooden rolling pin first, and then stuck on the lifesaver and pushed a chocolate chip in the middle. Ta-Da!

These spiderweb cookies were created using store-bought cookies.

To create the "web" on top I melted some white chocolate. I used the frosting bottles I had on hand, but you could easily use a normal piping bag.

I free handed some simple spiderwebs, but if you weren't comfortable with that then you could place an image under the wax paper to trace.

Once dry, gently lift them up by peeling back the wax paper.

Place on top of cookies.

This technique is so simple but instantly makes it look more expensive and custom. Spiderwebs are only one idea to make with this.

I think the cookies were the kid's favorite :)

Here's a peek at the rest of the table:

Gummy frogs- always a no-bake winner!

What kind of treats have you made lately without using your oven?

DIY Contact Paper Spider Web

Wowzers, can you believe that Halloween is this Wednesday??! I am reminded of the countdown on a daily basis from the kids, but it still kinda sneaked up on me this year!

We have been super busy getting everything in order for Jameson's class party. Being the class party planner has always been my favorite way to volunteer (imagine that, ha!), and I am excited to start putting together some of the simple and fun ideas we have planned for the day.

The other day I was looking through old Halloween pictures of ours, and I came across an old project a did a few years back, that I had totally forgotten about and I wanted to share it with you guys!

I have talked about my love of contact paper before. I still say I could come up with a 100 projects for the stuff, so here goes #2 :)

DIY Contact Paper Spider Web:

1. Using a similar technique that I did for my DIY chalkboard labels , I first started painting some contact paper (this time I used clear) with a black acrylic paint. While it was still wet, I sprinkled some black and silver glitter onto it to make it sparkle a bit.

2. Once the paper was dried, I cut it into strips about 1/2" wide; some long strips, some short.
3. Peel and start adhering to the wall. Cut pieces as needed for your design.  I started off by making the center shape and then added the longest pieces next. The shorter ones came last.

This project was easy and free (since I already had the supplies on hand) and created a big impact for the space that we put it in. The paper came off easily when we were all done and did not take off any of our paint.

As far as projects go, I'd say that this one may be an oldie, but goodie :)

Happy Monday!

Halloween Soap Label :: free printable

Hello!

I {as always} fell in love with some decorations from Target for Halloween. One of the things I really, really wanted was a fabulous soap dispenser that read something like "poison" or "venomous". It was only $15, so it wouldn't have broken the bank, but what do you do with something like that after the holidays? Take out all the soap and wash, wash, WASH out the dispenser (because, can you ever really get something washed out that once held soap?!?). That's a little too much work for this lazy gal, so I thought I would just print up some labels to go over the soap containers that we have in our bathroom. (Although, to be honest, if we had ended up having that Halloween party, I would have totally bought it, ha!)

I also made a garland out of some foam bats we had from last year.

The prints are from my Halloween Party Package via Etsy.

I told you I would find a place for them somewhere ;)

You can download the printable HERE.

Spooky Bar & A Freebie Print

Hello friends!

One of the few Halloween decorations that have stood the test of time for us, are the labels I printed up years ago. We use them to make a mock bar set up every year. We've been using them for so long, I couldn't even tell you where I found them :)

Some jars we bought just for this purpose (like the one holding the worms), and we take them out year after year.

Often, we just place the labels on whatever jars we already have out.

The swamp fog is my favorite. I filled it will some cheap spiderwebs to give it that wispy look inside.

We always have one large jar filled with candy corn to serve as our "Vampire Fangs".  This year, I fell in love with the new colors that came out....red is the perfect vampire fang color, right?!

{as you can tell we've been making a pretty good dent in the stash so far this year, ha!}

In fact, I found the new color so awesome, it made me think of how adorable it would be as a party favor. So, I made some bag toppers and got to work.

And guess what? I'm adding it HERE for you to download and print for free!

Each page prints up a black/gray one and an orange/black one.

Just click here to grab one for yourself!

Happy Haunting!
