Jungle Party :: DIY projects

Good morning!!

Today, I wanted to share with you some of the super simple diy projects I did to style the jungle themed baby shower I helped a friend throw. You may remember in the beginning of the inspiration phase, I listed some of the cheap and easy ideas I had to keep this party in budget. I ended up using a lot of them and throwing in some extras.

Project 1: Spray-painted Pastic Animals

I found these big guys at my local dollar store. The little guys that I used on the favor tins were purchased in a bunch at Joanns.

I picked out one can of blue and one of green {our two main colors} at my local hardware store. This was way more than enough. In fact, I had enough green to redo a current project I am working on ;)

I like to spray one side {wait to dry}, paint the other side {wait to dry} and then I stand them up and do the tops. Keep an eye out for the odd nooks and crannies (like underneath trunk) that are easy to miss.

You can use these gems in a ton of places! I used the small ones (in the pic on the left) for favors and the invites. The larger ones I used as decoration (top, right) and as place cards (bottom, right)-just add the name with some twine.

Best part? After you have already used these for the party, glue them to some wood or rocks and you have now have bookends for the nursery! Like these beauties:

Project 2: Kraft Paper

You can find rolls of brown kraft paper in just about any big box store, but I got mine at (you guessed it) the dollar store. Just by adding it to ordinary boxes and stands, it automatically gave it a "safari/jungle" feel. You could stamp them to look like packages that have been sent from far away (read: Africa) or add pretty yarn, like I did above. Another great option {which I did A LOT} was to use burlap material. It's super cheap and can be found at any craft store. I loved the look so much, I even added them to the invitations:

Project 3: Printed Map
I simply googled "map of Africa" and found several that were great. I printed up the one that I liked the most and used it to line one of the tray of goodies I had. You could also use it with the kraft paper to wrap a stand or gift.

Project 4: Animal Crackers with Bag Toppers

Animal Crackers are the perfect (& most cost efficient) party favor there is for a jungle/safari themed party. The picture shown above shows it with the topper I created for my Etsy package, however you can easily create topper from scrapbook paper.

Hope you have an inspiring Monday!

xo,
Rachel
